RENDERS AND ILLUSTRATIONS
When I came out to California back in 1997, one of my first jobs was a Photoshop specialist for Peter Green Design. They bought a new Mac monster just for me – a 300Mhz PowerPC G3 tower, a real screamer for its time. They gave me all the fancy effects to work on: if something needed to look like it was carved from stone or wood, or made out of glass or polished silver, it was all mine. Now this was back when this stuff took hours to accomplish and tens of minutes just to save large files. 500MB layered Photoshop file? Hit Save and go make yourself a sandwich.
These days things are much, MUCH faster, of course, but speed isn't everything. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything, because having all those bottlenecks made you clever, made you find a better solution, and I think it shows up in the work. You have to know when to abandon the built-in bells and whistles and get back to good old hand-crafted pixels.
Anyway, this gallery contains a lot of that kind of pixelcrafting, as well as a number of straight-up line illustrations. This is all commercial work, done for clients for specific jobs, using Photoshop and Illustrator.
